Just to say hello
My name is Julie and I had the privilege to be Claire's doula, this was a special and amazing experience being a doula for another doula, Claire almost managed her wish to have a home birth VBAC however even though she had to transfer in to hospital the birth was still wonderful as she birthed well with very little medical intervention and had her VBAC.
I have two grown up children a granddaughter and a husband who is very supportive and understanding of my passion (to support women in having the birth they wish for) especially when I'm on call and get called out in the middle of the night.
I trained as doula nearly ten years ago with Michel Odent who pioneered water births in the UK, and I am a recognised birth doula with
Doula UK. Then three years ago when my daughter became pregnant she asked me to train in hypnobirthing as I was to be her doula and she felt this would be of help, so I became practitioner. I've had several clients who used the hypnobirthing and they found it very useful but like me that felt it was very Americanised, so more recently with the help of natal hypnotherapy a UK product I have developed my own birth hypnosis programme.
In the new year I will be offering one to one antenatal sessions that will be tailored to the clients needs in the comfort of their own home at a time to suit them, also in this day and age when getting pregnant seems to be an issue for so many I will also offer preconceptual care.
I think that Claire has done a wonderful job setting up this forum for the local area so I hope you will all enjoy it and find it very helpful, I look forward to chatting with you all.
Take care
Julie
